Emergency Medical Technicians
The Emergency Mecical Technicians:
The EMT is the person who can manage, coordinate and participate in a health emergency basis, either individually or collectively, as published in RD 836/2012 from 25th of May.
Their functions are:
Evacuate the patient or victim using the techniques of mobilization and immobilization, driving safely to the reference health center.
Apply basic life support (BLS) techniques and collabore in the advanced life support (ALS) ones.
Collaborate in the classification of victims in all types of emergencies and disasters (triage).
Provide basic psychological support to patients, families and people affected on crises and health emergencies.
Attend the demand for healthcare received in the Emergency Coordination Centers and Tele-Assistance Centers.
Check the basic operation of medical equipment and health aids in the emergency vehicle.
Check and replenish stocks of medical supplies.
